Day two was a little more like a standard day for an intern, except I got to do a piece to camera and write my own script. I went to a couple of different things today. I started my day with a press conference, or presser, with Lord Mayor Graham Quirk and Federal Member for Brisbane Theresa Gambaro. They were unveiling plans for a $650 million upgrade of Kingsford Smith Drive, where 32 properties would be affected by the construction, including Brett’s Wharf and Ferry Terminal. The revamp involves the extension of the road from two lanes in each direction to three – totaling to six lanes, as well as the widening of pedestrian footpaths and bicycle ways. I’ll upload that clip later this afternoon to the video section.
After the presser, we went around the corner to Eagle Farm where race car driver Cam Wilson was breaking the Guinness World Record for most amount of distance covered in a GoKart in 24 hours. He did this to raise money for the Huntington’s Foundation as he has a 50/50 chance of being affected by the hereditary disease himself. You’ll be glad to know that Cam smashed the world record – traveling 604km in 24hours. That’s 3554 laps!!
Day three was an interesting day, I’ll get around to writing about it this afternoon. But it involved another presser with Quade Cooper and going to court where a pig was being represented by the RSPCA.
